Korea Certification-KC Mark for all electronic and electrical products
The economic policy of the Republic of Korea in 2002 aimed to increase investor confidence through transparent and continuous restructuring. Many manufacturers and traders are eager to have the opportunity to bring their products to the Korean market.
South Korea's import supervision
Regarding import regulations, the former government supervision type approval system was replaced by a new safety certification system supervised by private organizations. The "Electrical Appliance Safety Control Law" (Act No. 6019 announced on September 7, 1999) was amended to strengthen the safety control over the manufacture and use of electrical appliances and to harmonize safety requirements with international standards. This is to protect consumers from electrical hazards by considering the practicality of electrical product safety management, and to effectively respond to the international era by advancing electrical product safety management systems, such as safety standard methods and procedures.
South Korean authorities launched a new KC plan for all electronic and electrical products in 2009. As a general rule, electronic and electrical products in the Korean market must meet the prescribed safety requirements, electromagnetic compatibility testing and energy efficiency testing in order to obtain the mandatory mark "KC Mark" issued by the accreditation body.
Battery KC certification product range:
Batteries for handheld electronic devices
Suitable for all portable sealed secondary batteries containing alkaline or non-acid electrolyte except nickel batteries and disposable batteries (button batteries)
As a component of the battery, the battery cell does not require the Label mark according to regulations, but it must comply with the requirements for the battery marked in the safety standard
Since April 2016, batteries with a capacity density of less than 400WH/L have been included in the scope of KC's mandatory control
The range of portable battery products refers to: lithium batteries in portable products are also classified as portable products
The current lithium battery certification standard is KC 62133:2015, and the new standard KC 62133: 2019 will be enforced from September 6, 2019.
The new standard adds three test items for lithium batteries used in mobile phones, tablets, and notebook computers, namely vibration, shock and overcharge. For lithium batteries used in equipment other than these three types of equipment, it is consistent with the content of the 2015 version of the standard.

CPUP&KTC
Korea Testing and Certification (KTC) started in 1970 and is the official professional testing and research organization of Korea. Now, it is one of the best equipped test centers in the country, dedicated to improving the safety and quality of electronic and electrical products on the market, and is also one of the certification test centers authorized to issue the KC mark. Currently, KTC has 390 employees in 9 branches in South Korea.
CPUP focuses on global certification in the battery field, and its influence in the battery industry is increasing day by day.
In 2016, CPUP and KTC signed a partnership agreement. This partnership can help customers' products get the Korea Certification (KC) mark more smoothly. At the same time, the partnership enables CPUP to provide customers with efficient and low-cost services.
