According to the requirements of civil aviation regulations, airlines and airport cargo collection and transportation departments should conduct transportation document review for lithium batteries, and the important thing is the UN38.3 safety test report for each type of lithium battery. The report can be designated by the third party testing agency of civil aviation. If the test report cannot be provided, civil aviation will prohibit the lithium battery from air transportation. Next, I will introduce the relevant content about UN38.3 certification fee.

Why apply for UN38.3?

One, the condition limitation

The lithium batteries and lithium battery packs to be shipped can be transported as non-restricted articles (non-dangerous goods) if all the following conditions are met. If any of the following conditions cannot be met, the dangerous goods collection requirements of UN3090 or UN3091 shall be followed (see attached).

(1) Limitation on lithium content

1. For metal lithium or lithium alloy primary battery, the lithium content shall not exceed 1g; For lithium ion primary batteries, the lithium equivalent content does not exceed 1.5g. Note: primary batteries are also called cells.

2. For metal lithium or lithium alloy batteries, the total lithium content shall not exceed 2g, and for lithium ion batteries, the lithium equivalent content shall not exceed 8g.

What products does UN38.3 include?

1, lithium battery

2. Button battery

3. Lithium polymeric battery

4, mobile power supply

UN38.3 Certification Documents:

1. Application Form

2. Application letter, lithium battery transportation statement and documents

3. Battery specifications

4. Packing picture (outer packing picture, open outer packing picture, inner packing picture)

5. Test samples (templates can be provided for the above data)

Duration of certification: 8-12 working days

How much does certification cost?

The test required by UN38.3 (UNDOT), that is, the lithium battery must pass the high simulation, high and low temperature cycle, vibration test, impact test, 55C external short circuit, extrusion or impact test, overcharge test, forced discharge test before transportation, in order to ensure the transportation safety of lithium battery. If the lithium battery is not installed with the device, it must also pass the 1.2m drop test. Lithium battery includes lithium primary battery and lithium secondary battery. We need to know the battery specifications ,then give you the quotation
