In the past, the adapters shipped separately is not regulated by the ST certification in Malaysia. If the adapter is shipped with the terminal product, it is not required to apply ST certification. However, due to too many incidents about adapter explosions in the market, it have attracted the attention of relevant departments in Malaysia, and more and more regulations on adapters have come out.
Change: SIRIM will have the following measures for multimedia and communication products with adapters:
1. Adapter shall be evaluated in safety report needs, which means, products with adapters need to be ST certified;
2. There is a transition period of about 3 months. During the transition period, the previous system is still working-purchase labels and then ship;
3. However, the ST official has begun to request the security report provided with data for adapter evaluation.
