Lithium-ion batteries could face a ban on air transport of passenger planes, a UN group has proposed

As reported by Associated Press on 28th,Jan,A experts group of United Nations said as rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have the ability to burn down aircraft,so they suggested banning lithium batteries from air transport on passenger planes.

The Air Navigation Committee of the International Civil Aviation Organization of the United Nations (ICAO) also proposed lifting the ban at a closed-door meeting on Wednesday, if future technological developments bring the safety of lithium batteries within acceptable limits, according to the report. The recommendation has yet to be approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization, The committee will address the proposal later in February.The Associated Press said the officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the proposal.
