Host Products such as LED Luminaires, mobile phones, laptops etc. use components such as LED drivers, power adaptors, and rechargeable batteries etc. which are required to be registered with BIS.
During scrutiny of test reports of the host products for considering grant of registration, it is observed that in some instances, the marking details/ratings mentioned in CCL for the registered components is different from the ratings/details declared for these components at the time of grant of registration.
Such changes in marking details/ratings of registered components from that declared at the time of grant of registration amount to misuse of standard mark as per 6(4) of BIS(CA)Registration2018 and also violation of Terms and Conditions of License as mentioned in 17(2) and 17(3) of BIS Act 2016.Hence, in such instances, action as per provision of BIS Act, Rules & Regulations is attracted.
It is therefore advised to all the registered manufacturers to adhere to the declarations made to BIS at the time of registration.
lf at any stage it is detected that the product has been marked with ratings/details other than that declared during the grant of registration/inclusion, the action will be taken against the manufacturer as per provision of BIS Act, Rules and Regulations.
